Alright, so here’s my take on this whole Switch 2 and Zelda stuff. You know, they say it’s the cooler sibling of the Switch. The great leap forward or whatever. Some would argue it’s like finally getting decent popcorn at the movies – long overdue but appreciated. The real kicker? Diving back into those fan-favorite legends, Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. Seriously, those games have been clutch for years, first dropping in 2017 and then 2023. Not that I was counting but hey.
Anyway, these upgraded Switch 2 versions? People say it’s like being handed a new pair of glasses and seeing in HD for the first time. Nintendo magic or some sort of wizardry means you get less of the annoying stuff – quicker loading, fewer freezes. Remember those long loading screens? Like waiting forever for your toast to pop. Now? Poof, they’ve vanished. Almost made me spill my coffee when I realized how quick it was.
So, there we were, running our little tests with the old Switch OLED against the snazzy Switch 2. You’ve got boot times, saves, reloads, you name it. Just like stuff you do a million times when you can’t put the game down. I mean, I care more about this than I probably should.
Unsurprisingly, Switch 2 seriously outclasses the regular old Switch. It practically makes old loading times seem like they’ve been cut down by a generous half, or more – it’s wild. Especially with Tears of the Kingdom, the performance just rockets. The game’s probably just better prepped for this new hardware? Or maybe the planets aligned.
To be honest, the Switch 2 with these updated Zelda titles – it’s something special. If you’re all in on that whole Hyrule adventure, there’s no better ride. I mean, unless waiting is your thing. But heads up – it does come with that extra $10 tag for the Switch 2 Edition. Yeah, you might want the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion shindig. No clue why that little detail keeps nudging at my brain. But hey, such is the joy of gaming these days, right?
