So, picture this — The Pokémon Company International just kind of dropped a bomb on us. Apparently, they’re rolling out this whole new thing called the “Wisdom of Sea and Sky” expansion in the Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket. And yes, that’s a mouthful. Anyway, it’s hitting our screens next week or whatever.
Okay, so mark your calendar or tattoo it on your arm or something — Wednesday, July 30, 2025. That’s when you’ll start bumping into some old-school Johto Pokémon! Remember those critters from Pokémon Gold and Silver? Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile? Yeah, those guys. And let’s not forget about the big shots, Legendary Pokémon Lugia and Ho-Oh. I mean, who could forget those, right?
Now, here’s the kicker. This expansion’s got Pokémon that don’t even need Energy to attack. Yeah, seriously! It’s a game-changer. Time to whip up some crazy strategies for your decks. I can feel the gears turning in my brain already. Then again, maybe that’s just caffeine withdrawal. Who knows.
Oh, they’re also tinkering with the Trade feature — making it all fancy-like. Get this: there’s gonna be a Wishlist Feature, so you can tell the universe (or just your trade buddies) what cards are on your radar. You do this by navigating from the My Cards screen, which sounds… logical, I guess? You get to pin up to 20 cards and spotlight three like, “Hey, I’m serious about these!”
Speaking of which, they’re ditching trade tokens. Gone! Poof! Instead, you’ve got this thing called shinedust. But it’s not like it rains from the sky. Nope, you have to earn it by downing in-game missions, collecting card duplicates, and all that jazz. Once you stockpile enough, that’s when you can trade for those high-rarity cards marked by ♦♦♦, ♦♦♦♦, and ★. Shinedust sounds kinda magical, don’t you think? Anyway… oh, right! You can swap your old trade tokens for stuff like pack hourglasses and — you guessed it — shinedust in the shop.
Remember, this whole trade token thing takes a bow on Wednesday, July 30, pretty early in the morning. So set your alarm, maybe? If you’re like me, you’ll probably hit snooze a couple of times, though. Just sayin’.
And hey, if you’ve been missing out, Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket is live right now! Go snatch it up on the App Store for iOS or Google Play for Android. And start catching ’em all—again!
Alright, that’s basically the gist of it. Check out the trailer if you haven’t already. I should probably look it up too. Anyway, what was I saying? Oh, never mind.
