Sure thing. Let’s dive in.

Wow, okay, where to start with this chaos. GPD’s up to their usual shenanigans, teasing this new handheld PC gizmo. And by usual, I mean they’ve only gone and tossed in a Ryzen AI Max+ 395 chip. Still trying to wrap my head around what that even means, but hey, they showed it running “Black Myth: Wukong” at some insane frame rates. Like, between 170 and 212 fps. That’s fast, right? For a handheld? I think?
Anyway — no, hold on — where was I headed with this? Oh, right. So GPD’s saying this thing will come out around ChinaJoy 2025. But what gives? No detailed specs or anything, just a teaser clip. Kinda like going to a movie and only watching the trailer. Frustrating, but it has me curious, I guess.
And those Ryzen chips, man, they were all the rage back at CES 2025. “Strix Halo” they called ‘em. Sounds like a band name. Zen 5 CPU cores, RDNA 3.5 graphics… and that memory bandwidth? A whopping 256 GB/s or something. I mean, I’m no tech whiz, but that sounds pretty bonkers for a handheld device. Makes you wonder what kind of games it can handle — probably something more intense than Tetris, I guess.
The real kicker, though? GPD’s post barely spills a thing. Just a few stats hovering over the video — temp, iGPU speed, CPU power, fps — like I even know what to do with that info. Processor stays around 65 degrees C, which, I suppose, means it’s not a fiery handheld of doom. CPU power doing little dances between 55W and 58W. Yawn.
Oh, and those controls? Totally hidden in the shadows at first. Had to crank up the video brightness, no joke. There’s a thumb stick, some buttons, and maybe a speaker grille on the left. On the right, similar story—an action button diamond, another thumb stick, a few more buttons, and possibly a tiny touchpad sneaking around in there. But again, nothing groundbreaking in layout, right?
Price-wise, who can say? Ryzen stuff tends to be a bit pricey, probably ‘cause it’s all cutting-edge and whatnot. TSMC’s making these tiny chips at 4nm. Sounds expensive, but maybe not “sell your house” expensive.
So, keep an eye out for ChinaJoy in August—they’ll probably spill more beans there. Who knows, might just turn out to be a top gaming handheld. Or not. Guess we’ll see soon enough.
