Okay, so Microsoft’s got this thing, right? They’re testing a new, uh, sort of gaming library thingy for the Xbox app on PC. Basically, it’s gonna show games you’ve installed from other places? Like, uh, you know, third-party stores. Xbox Insiders are trying it out, and it’s gonna hit the ROG Xbox Ally – seriously, who names these things? – and some other Ally X gadget later this year.
So, what’s fresh here? This setup is gonna cram all your games, assuming they’re from, like, supported stores, into one spot. Cool, right? But not everything’s golden yet. Right now, it’s just Battle.net, EA, and Riot Games – through Game Pass, mind you – that’s in on the action. Oh! And Microsoft says they’re gonna add more stores soon. Place your bets on Steam, Epic, and GoG jumping in next.
Think about it. If Microsoft ropes in the big guys like Steam, PC gamers might finally get this unified game library vibe – like console players do. You know, everything just THERE. GoG Galaxy kinda already nails this, but let’s be real, the Xbox app is built right into Windows 11. That’s gotta count for something.
This is just another leap in Microsoft’s crazy plan to, like, transform Xbox from just a console thing to this all-encompassing service. It started with Game Pass, rocking on both Xbox and PC. Now, they’re rolling with handheld gaming PCs, which I guess they believe are the next big thing? Uh, sure Microsoft, whatever floats your boat.
No word yet on when everyone else is gonna get this fancy feature. But since it’s kicking off with the ROG Ally things around holiday time, maybe by the end of the year or 2026? Who knows. Just, uh, keep your eyes peeled.
