Alright, so here’s the scoop on some nerdy tech stuff. If you’re into Apple and their shiny gizmos, you might find this interesting. Or not. Who am I to judge?
So this guy Ming-Chi Kuo, who’s apparently got a nose for Apple secrets, spills some beans about Apple’s XR and smart glasses plan. I mean, is it just me, or does Apple have this love affair with acronyms? Anyway, Kuo’s talking about this souped-up Vision Pro coming out later this year. And way down the line, they’re cooking up some AR glasses set for 2028. Seriously, 2028! I can’t even plan my dinner for tomorrow.
Kuo’s got his facts—or so he claims—from random leaks across supply chains. Like, is he just peeking through windows or what? Apparently, there’s a new Vision Pro packing an M5 chip, due for mass production in 2025. It’s like they’re swapping out the M2 for an M5. Other than that, sounds like it’s the same ol’ song and dance. The idea, Kuo says, is to keep their niche cool and sell some stock or something.
Oh, and then there’s “Vision Air.” Dramatic, right? This lighter-than-air headset is supposed to drop in 2027. We’re talking over 40% lighter than the current Vision Pro, which apparently weighs about as much as a small cat. So yeah, apples to cats. They’re giving it plastic lenses and less fancy gear to keep the cost down. Meanwhile, the true sequel, dubbed Vision Pro 2, might roll out by 2028. Sounds like it’ll have a grand makeover and be cheaper and cooler. Or so they hope.
But hang on, they’re not stopping there. There’s gossip about Ray-Ban-esque smart glasses, super stylish and all. Kuo’s hinting these might hit the shelves in 2027, with a target of producing millions. Millions! Imagine that. Unlike others, they won’t have a display — which I guess makes them kind of half-blind, but who cares — they’ll still have audio playback, photos, maybe an AI assistant. You get the idea.
And the pièce de résistance? Apple’s betting big on XR Glasses. These are supposed to have a color display, and AI charms. Rumor has it they’ll debut sometime in 2028. Then there’s talk about some lightweight version too — because why not make everything lighter?
Lastly, there were whispers about Apple working on some casual XR viewer. Apparently tethered to Apple devices and all. But this got shelved for a bit because, you know, boring stuff like weight issues or whatever.
Will any of this actually happen? Who knows! Apple loves its surprises. They might just dazzle us with something entirely out of the blue. Kuo’s usually spot-on, but it’s good to sprinkle a little skepticism on any tech talk, am I right? Anyway, we’ll just have to wait and see how much of this unfolds as planned. Or shifts entirely!
