So, guess what? Electronic Arts (you know ’em, right?) is pulling the plug on Anthem. Yeah, I’m talkin’ January 12th, 2026. They just dropped the news on their blog—classic move. Oh, and about buying those virtual coins? Forget it. But if you’ve got some stashed away already, go wild. Or not. Your call.
They tossed in some corporate love notes too—thanking all the gamers. Seriously, cue the tiny violins or whatever.
And, get this—EA’s saying no one’s losing their jobs over this. Yet. I mean, who’s really buying that? Layoffs are like a jump scare in a horror movie. You know it’s coming, just not when.
Remember when Anthem was the next big thing? BioWare and EA went all in back in early 2019. But…umm, it kinda flopped. Like, remember your high school science project? Yeah, that level of flop. Details leaked out—surprise, surprise—about how messy the whole process was.
Then, later that same year, BioWare said, “Hey, we’re gonna fix it.” And they had this whole plan for Anthem Next or whatever. But that got canned too. Just like my New Year’s resolutions every year. So there it is—a messy story, but aren’t those the best kind?
