Whoa, so, guess what? Limited Run Games has gone and spilled the beans on when we can finally get our hands on the Gex Trilogy. Yep, three different physical versions for the Nintendo Switch are on their way.
Alright, let’s break it down. You get the classic 2D Gex — remember that one? And then its bigger, bolder siblings, Gex: Enter the Gecko and Gex 3: Deep Cover Gecko. They’ve tossed in some nifty features like Rewind and Save Anywhere. Honestly, I’m not quite sure how I feel about it. It’s like, was that part really needed? Anyway, moving on.
So, Enter the Gecko and Deep Cover Gecko, those two have gone widescreen with 16:9 format. Kind of like when your TV decides it’s time to show you more stuff on the sides. Plus, you can now do full 360 spins, which, okay, doesn’t mean much to me, but some folks love that sort of thing.
Now, brace yourselves. They’re offering some swanky editions that are supposed to capture the old Gecko charm. So, here’s the scoop:
Standard Edition for $39.99 – Pretty straightforward. You get the game, case, cover, and booklet.
Classic Edition at $74.99 – Now we’re getting fancy. The usual stuff plus a Steelbook, a poster (double-sided for those who love choices), a CD with some tunes, and it all comes in this retro box. Why the retro box when it’s all modern inside? No clue. But I dig it.
Tail Time Edition at a whopping $199.99 – Alright, guys, this one’s over the top! Think Classic Edition but minus that tune CD. Add in a giant 36” inflatable Gex (can you say conversation starter?), a 7” statue, trading cards, a nifty remote pin, the full soundtrack (because you deserve it), and a special box by Yoshitaka Amano, which is kind of impressive, you know.
Mark your calendars—or just try to remember—Gex Trilogy is heading to the digital Nintendo eShop on June 16, 2025. If you’re into holding stuff, physical editions will pop up a little later in 2025. Pre-orders? They’re open now on the Limited Run Games site till July 6, 2025. Sneak in before that date or miss out!
In case you’re curious, there’s a trailer somewhere, but I wandered off before checking it out.
