Honestly, ShapesXR just dropped this new thing, and I’ve got to say, it’s kind of wild. So, they launched back in 2021, right? And now they’ve gone and added an animation tool that’ll make your XR stuff pop in ways I didn’t even think were possible.
The studio folks are raving about this ‘Animation’ gig — something about a frame-based system that’s stupid easy to use. Think transitions, interactions, all that jazz. No coding! Yep, zero. Nada. Imagine designing without getting buried in code. Story beats, UI motions, gestures — it’s all there. Supposedly, our XR designs will be more alive, dynamic, immersive — pick your buzzword.
I stumbled across their CEO, Inga Petryaevskaya, who was like, “Animation? Yeah, it’s in our DNA. Dream come true to stick it in ShapesXR, you know?” Fast, intuitive, blah blah, don’t lose the creative spark. I mean, who wants to slow down when you’re onto something good, right?
And here’s a kicker — you can team up in real-time. Animate stuff on literally any device. Whether you’re on a traditional screen or an XR headset like Quest or Pico, you’re good. Switch back and forth — why not, right?
There are these sample spaces coming with it, and oh, an in-app lesson. Got to love learning from virtual instructors. “Hey, tutorial me up on this animation magic!” Fun times ahead.
Did I mention they tossed this thing out for free on the Horizon Store and Pico Store? But watch out — being a freeloader has limits. You get one editable space, ten states per space, and a 20 MB cap on asset imports. Over that, they’re nudging you toward a Business or Enterprise license. And, duh, of course, they are.
Who’d have thought I’d get all giddy about prototyping software? Anyway, that’s the scoop. Or most of it. I think.
