Hey, so, get this. The Strong National Museum of Play just decided to induct some pretty epic games into their Hall of Fame. We’re talking about Defender from Williams Electronics, GoldenEye 007 by Rare, id Software’s Quake, and, wait for it, Bandai’s Tamagotchi. Kind of a mix, right? I mean, who would’ve thought those little digital pets would end up here? But yeah, they did.
There was this list they started with for 2025, and honestly, not sure how they picked the final four. I mean, there was Age of Empires, Angry Birds, Call of Duty 4, Frogger, Golden Tee — the list goes on. NBA 2K could’ve made it too, but nah. I digress. Maybe it was all about impact or something. They say the chosen ones really shook up the gaming world, left their mark on culture, stuff like that. It’s about who stands the test of time, I guess. How far they reached and who they influenced. Quake, for instance, wasn’t the first from its developers to get inducted. Doom’s already there, chilling since 2015.
Oh, and the judges talked about why these games mattered. Never thought I’d be reminiscing about those days, trying to beat multiplayer GoldenEye or taking care of a Tamagotchi that kept beeping at me. Makes me feel kind of nostalgic, in a way.
Since it kicked off in 2015, they’ve let in like 49 games. Last year’s lineup included Asteroids, Myst, and oh, Resident Evil. Got me feeling all sorts of ways remembering all those late-night gaming sessions. SimCity got in too, and Ulti… sorry, where was I? Anyway, yeah, games sure have a way of weaving into our lives, huh?
