Alright, so let’s talk about Capcom. They’re this Japanese publishing bigwig, and wow, they just reported a massive ¥45.5 billion for the quarter ending June 30th. That’s like $302.2 million, if you’re doing the math—which I wasn’t. Anyway, that’s, uh, up by 53.7%. How? Mostly because of their Digital Contents biz. Yeah, that’s games, for us regular folks. They were all like, “Hey, look at Devil May Cry 5, Resident Evil Village, the RE4 Remake, Street Fighter 6.” And I’m over here thinking, “Wait, Resident Evil? Again?”
Devil May Cry 5’s sales got a boost from some Netflix anime thing. Go figure. It’s sold 10.5 million units now. 1.7 million just in the last quarter. Pretty wild. Resident Evil Village? 12.2 million units. What’s next, a theme park? The Resident Evil 4 remake is at 10.6 million. And Street Fighter 6, oh man, it’s hit 5 million, probably because it’s on that Nintendo Switch 2 now. People love their Switches, I guess.
Across the board, they moved 14.16 million units this period. Up 48% from last year’s 9.53 million. No small potatoes. Operating profit zoomed up too, by 90.8% to ¥24.6 billion, or $163.4 million. I read that and thought, “What? Seriously?” But hey, good for them, right?
