Oh man, you wouldn’t believe what went down at the Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament the other weekend. Chaos, pure chaos. Picture this: the finals are on, tensions high, players laser-focused. But suddenly—bam!—a wild glitch appears. I mean, what are the chances, right? One minute, Moky’s pulling these awesome moves, next thing… poof, he’s out of the level. All because of some weird bug. I swear, $2,000 vanished faster than my New Year’s resolutions.
It’s wild how after almost 25 years, folks are still all about Melee. Like, we’ve moved on to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate on the Switch, yet a bunch of hardcore fans are holding it down with Melee. They’re showing off their skills in streams and, of course, in those big-deal competitions. No lie, it’s kind of awesome.
Back to the main event—Moky and Cody Schwab were the last ones standing at this thing called the Full House 2025 tournament. Stakes were high; both were using Fox McCloud, which is such an iconic pick if you ask me. Anyway, they faced off on Pokemon Stadium. And just like that, Moky got done dirty by a glitch. He fell right through the level. Can you imagine?
Hungrybox, another legend in the Smash scene, was commentating. He sort of called it, joking about the risk of falling through that spot. Then, it happened! Moky’s character just zipped through the tree, then the stage, leaving Cody with the win. Hungrybox even dubbed it the “greatest commentator curse of all time.” No kidding!
Both Moky and Cody are pretty well-known in Smash circles. I think Cody’s ranked second while Moky’s fourth worldwide? Crazy stats. Even with the glitch fiasco, they were laughing it off afterward, which is cool to see. Honestly, given their skills, this hiccup is just a hiccup. We’ll probably see them face off again.
Oh hey, speaking of Melee—did you know it dropped back on December 3, 2001? Time flies, doesn’t it? Gosh, makes me feel kind of nostalgic. Anyway, here’s hoping for no more stage glitches in future tournaments. Fingers crossed!
