Here’s a little curveball—Austrian law requires companies to file for insolvency big-time, within 60 days if they’re sinking. Expert Andreas Howadt says this could reveal more juicy details soon. Maybe some drama? Who knows.
Now, Cybershoes weren’t your typical VR treadmill. Those things usually have all these high-tech bases and low-friction shoes—but no, not these guys! Cybershoes said: “Let’s keep it chill, sitting in a chair!” They had rollers that measured foot angles so you could “run” while seated. Honestly, it made VR gaming feel kinda relaxed.
Started back in 2018, Cybershoes pulled in over €200,000 from their first Kickstarter. Just some prototypes at first, but who doesn’t love a good glow-up? By 2019, with IndieGogo in the mix, they added another €140,000. Pretty sweet, right? Hopes were high they’d catch the eye of big investors.
Enter November 2020, and they were on Kickstarter again. This time for a Quest-compatible version, but it only snagged about $98,000, half the previous haul. Folks were losing interest or maybe everyone had already boarded the hype train. Who even knows why?
By the end, both their online store and Amazon were dry. Like, Sahara-levels of dry. No stock of the latest Quest gear since late 2024, if Amazon trackers are to be trusted. But eh, maybe they were secretly planning an escape, you know?
