Oh man, so Google might be throwing its hat in the ring with some fancy smart glasses at this Google I/O thing next week. Are they trying to compete with those Ray-Ban Meta Glasses? I guess so.
Anyway, Samat, the big guy in charge of the Android universe (yeah, that’s a thing), was teasing something shiny, or maybe not so shiny, in this promo. He put on these glasses and hinted we’d see some cool Android demos. Whatever that means.
So, let’s talk nerdy for a sec. We did this low-key detective work (a.k.a. zoomed in on a YouTube screenshot). The glasses look like they’re swagging some serious Ray-Ban vibes, complete with a camera sensor hanging out on the left side. Because, of course, they have to look cool, right?
Oh, and there’s this LED thing, probably a little tattletale light to let folks know if you’re snapping pics or recording. It’s like the glasses trying to be all “caught ya” with those Ray-Bans again.
Arms of the glasses—chunky monkeys—likely crammed with batteries. I mean, gotta house that tech somewhere, right? Not to mention, there’s a wee little gap near the ear, maybe for sound? Or maybe it’s just a button. Honestly, who knows? It’s a guessing game at this point.
And then there’s Apple, not to be left out, tinkering away on their own set. Bloomberg says they’re cooking up some super chip just for glasses. Typical Apple, always with their custom stuff.
Anyway—wait, need coffee—right, back at it… Google I/O’s coming up on May 20th-21st. They’ve got keynotes, developer chit-chat, and maybe a word on Android XR (their super-secret project? I mean, it’s not so secret now).
I’ll be glued to YouTube at 10 AM PT. Probably with popcorn. Because why not? Catch that below if you’re curious.
