NVIDIA and AMD are both gearing up to release their more affordable GPUs, setting the stage for a showdown in the mainstream market this May.
NVIDIA & AMD Ready to Compete in the Mid-Range GPU Market with the RTX 5060 & RX 9060 XT Models
For those in search of low-to-mid-tier GPUs, the options seem somewhat limited at the moment. The latest-generation GPUs, particularly from NVIDIA, have been hard to come by, and as a result, prices have soared well above the MSRP. Meanwhile, AMD’s RX 9070 series is also in high demand, making it tough to snag one at the suggested retail price. According to a report from Benchlife, though, NVIDIA and AMD are prepping to release new offerings for this segment as soon as next month.
NVIDIA, known as Team Green, is set to introduce the GeForce RTX 5060 on May 19. It’s expected to boast an 8 GB GDDR7 VRAM setup with speeds of 28 Gbps on a 128-bit memory bus. Additionally, this model is anticipated to consume more power, with a 35W increase in TDP over the RTX 4060. The RTX 5060 stands out with:

- Same Memory Capacity
- Faster GDDR7 Memory at 28 Gbps
- 64% More Bandwidth
- 30% Higher Power Rating
Over at AMD, the spotlight is on the Radeon RX 9060 XT, slated for a reveal on May 21 during Computex, with sales likely to start by June. This model will feature the Navi 44 die on a 128-bit bus, coming in both 8GB and 16GB versions, akin to NVIDIA’s RTX 5060 Ti. It’s expected to have 2,048 SPs, which is half the number in the Radeon RX 9070 XT, and feature gaming clock speeds set at 2620 MHz and boost clocks reaching 3230 MHz. This means it’s well-equipped to deliver impressive 1080p and 2K performance.
