Okay, so here’s the scoop. Stainless Games — yeah, the folks behind Carmageddon, which, if you ask me, is sort of like Mad Max meets a gaming console — decided it was time for a little musical chairs at the top. Ben Gunstone’s the new head honcho now, though he’s been kicking around there since 2022. He wasn’t always the big boss, mind you. First, he had a gig as game director, then leveled up to operations director. Before that? He was doing his thing at Dovetail Games for a bit.
But anyway, Ben is all like, “Wow, this is big. I’m the CEO now — still can’t quite believe it.” He basically said Patrick Buckland, the guy who started this whole shebang back in ’94, has been a legend and left some big shoes to fill. Imagine walking around in those — probably not comfy, right? Now, Patrick isn’t riding off into the sunset just yet because he’s shifting over to Executive Chairman. So he’s still sort of in the mix, which is cool because he really digs making games. I mean, honestly, who wouldn’t want to keep playing with their own toys, especially if they’re the ones you created yourself?
Patrick made a crack about turning 62 but not looking a day over 70. Classic. Anyway, he’s easing back from the daily grind – can’t blame him, really. Being CEO of a software company probably ages you faster than you’d like to admit. But he’s still majorly invested, literally and emotionally, so he’s not totally letting go. Like, when you’ve poured your life into something, it’s hard to just watch it drift on by. So, with Ben at the helm and Patrick whispering sage advice from the side, Stainless Games is just gonna keep on trucking. Or, you know, carmageddoning.
