Whoa, okay. So Nintendo’s doing this thing with the Switch 2, and it’s, like, just a week away or something? Seriously, they’re teasing us bit by bit. The latest bit came from the Nintendo Today app — on a Tuesday, I think? Not that it matters — talking about all these cool features for their online platform. Makes the N64 games both, uh, easier and more nostalgic somehow. Real blast to the past, right?
First scoop? You can rewind your gameplay! Imagine botching a jump in a platformer and just hitting rewind like you’re in some time machine. Thinking of Mario Kart 64 — that’s, like, my kryptonite. Always flinging myself off tracks like it’s an Olympic sport I never trained for.
And get this — they’ve got these CRT filters now. Adding scan-lines to the games, turning your fancy screen into something straight out of 1998. Man, Ocarina of Time with those lines? Looks worse, but in the best possible way. Or maybe it’s just me being all retro-obsessed?
Oh, right, and some control remapping news too. Both the original and the new Switch let you tweak controls for N64 games. So, you can remap for the Joy-Cons or the ancient — forgive me, “classic” — Nintendo 64 controller. Anyway, where was I? Ah, whatever. Just thought I’d share.
