I was diving into some game news the other day, kinda like skim-reading because, honestly, who has time? Anyway — wait, backtrack — Saber Interactive’s behind this new World War Z VR gig. You know those guys, right? They did the PC and console shooter back in 2019. So, now they’re taking this zombie madness into VR. Yeah, like really putting you in the middle of it, right in the virtual chaos with your Quest or SteamVR headset. Mark your calendar: August 12th is D-Day for this one.
This VR thing, they’ve rebuilt it from scratch, supposedly to really amp up the action like never before. No more third-person whatevers — we’re talking first-person now, full on, just you against the swarm, wandering through iconic places like New York, Tokyo, Marseille. Seriously, imagine staring down 200 zombies at once. Gives me chills just thinking about it.
Oh, side note, cause I might forget, gonna have seven characters to mess around with and tons of gear and stuff. Difficulty levels, perks… same old but in a new skin, you know? They’re taking cues from the movie and the novel, making sure these zombies aren’t just aimlessly wandering. Nah, they’re adapting, super creepy, trying to outsmart you and all that. Plus, these special infected ones pop up, and it sounds like things are gonna get real intense, real fast.
Oh right, almost forgot. Pre-orders? Yeah, those are live right now on the Horizon Store for Quest, and on Steam for PC VR. Runs you about $20. No discounts, sadly, but there’s something called a ‘Golden Skin Pack’ up for grabs if you do put your name down early.
Anyway, not sure why I’m so hyped, probably that thrill of thinking you’d survive in a zombie apocalypse. Or just me craving something new in gaming. Whatever it is, August 12th can’t come soon enough.
