Alright, here we go. So, Assetto Corsa EVO made its debut earlier this year, kinda limping with VR on PC. If you tried it, maybe you know what I mean—performance issues that were, well, not exactly thrilling. Anyway, the latest 0.2 update just hit the scene, and guess what? It’s like KUNOS Simulazioni decided to give the VR folks a nice little gift basket filled with performance tweaks.
I mean, seven shiny new cars joined the party, a Maserati GT2, that classic Lotus Exige V6 Cup, and a couple of Alfa Romeos, among others. Can’t forget the Porsche 911 Turbo or the Mazda MX-5 though. Oh, and the Honda NSX-R! Plus, two new tracks are here: Circuit of the Americas and Donington Park. I think racing fans feel a bit spoiled right now.
All these toys aside, the game’s opened up in single-player modes too. “Open Mode” is like an all-you-can-drive buffet. Meanwhile, “Career Mode” brings more of that grind and climb we all secretly love, complete with its own game economy.
Back to VR—KUNOS calls this their “step two” in making VR less of, you know, a headache. Graphics for VR gear are getting some love too: new TV camera set, “dynamic” mirror capture (whatever that means in VR-speak), better reflections, DLSS added (nice touch!), and grass—yes, grass—that somehow just looks better. That horizon glitch drove me nuts, but it’s supposedly fixed now. Crossing fingers here.
On top of that, switching from regular screens to VR doesn’t mess with DLSS settings anymore. Kind of removes a bit of the tedium for those who jump back and forth.
But here’s the kicker, you need a serious setup to run all this smoothly in VR. Not even kidding. That said, progress is progress, right? There’s this cool video showing off differences between the old and new versions—0.16 vs 0.2—for anyone curious. The visuals look way more polished now.
Finally, KUNOS is planning more early access updates leading up to version 1.0, expected Fall 2025. Gotta admit, I’m curious to see if these tweaks will make VR experiences feel worth that $32 entrance fee. Here’s hoping for the best!
Anyway, that’s about it. Kinda exciting, yet a bit of a bumpy ride too.
