Having played a pivotal role in the Tony Hawk series since the very first game hit shelves in 1999, Rausch’s contributions have been integral to the franchise’s enduring success.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater etched its name in the annals of gaming history as one of the most beloved sports game franchises, boasting multiple standout entries. Its 2020 release, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, was a stellar comeback, capturing both commercial success and critical acclaim in record time. Fast forward to today, Rausch has delved into the world of action sports again, this time crafting a unique experience nestled within the sprawling digital playground of Fortnite, developed by the ever-popular Epic Games.
The collaboration of Rausch, his son Andrew, and the team at code36 brought Shred Island to life, utilizing Fortnite’s Creative Mode as their canvas. Players can dive into this fresh adventure by entering the code “0875-5132-5368.” In Fortnite, these mini-games, or “islands” as they’re called, are custom in-game worlds designed with the Unreal Editor. Free for all Fortnite players, Shred Island welcomes both solo thrill-seekers and groups of up to 10 players, who can tackle five distinctive missions across various tracks. Beyond performing snowboarding tricks and snatching up coins, players can up their game by upgrading equipment between runs. Excitingly, the developers have teased plans for future expansions, including “Live DJ Events.”
