Sure, here goes nothing.

Okay, so here’s the scoop. Kitfox Games and Freehold Games are tossing Caves of Qud onto the Nintendo Switch. Console exclusive, of course. You know, it’s that crazy 2D turn-based roguelike deal where you’re plopped into a world teeming with—of all things—sentient plants and mutant buddies. Yeah, seriously.
So, what’s cooking in this game? They threw a bunch of buzzwords at us, but the gist? You can do pretty much whatever you want. And the world? Wild and simulated to the nth degree. Like, stuck behind a wall? Why not just munch through it if you’ve got the right mutation? Kinda bonkers, right?
And the creatures? Fully simulated, like, down to their, I dunno, toenails or whatever. You ever wanted to dominate a spider and make it your puppet? Well, this is your chance. Scuttle around and spin webs to your heart’s content.
Seventy-odd factions knocking about. Apes and robots and crabs, oh my! I mean, imagine negotiating politics with an entropic being. What’s that even mean?
You’ve got a deep-dive science fantasy setting thanks to fifteen years of oddball world-building. I bet it’s as labyrinthine as my thoughts on a Monday morning.
Oh, gameplay? Yep, it’s tactical and turn-based. Mix your mutations, implants, and whatever else you can think of to forge your path. Quests and NPCs toss in some RPG spice. Some are dynamic, others are penned down, like that old mixtape you found in your dad’s attic.
And let’s talk music for a sec — apparently, it’s packed with over two hours of vibes to get lost in. Atmospheric, they say. I suppose you’ll have to hear it to believe it.
Come Winter 2025, head to the Nintendo eShop. Switch exclusive, remember? The countdown’s on.
Ooh, and there’s a trailer and shots of the game floating around too. But, enough rambling. Go check it out yourself if you’re curious!
