A tech tinkerer somewhere in China, a bit of a wizard with wires and whatnot, has put together this beast of a gaming handheld. Yeah, it’s huge — a whopping 12.5 inches of screen — and, believe it or not, it’s in 4K. Thanks to some serious hardware: an Intel Core i9-14900HX running the show and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU. Imagine stuffing a sumo wrestler into a phone booth. Well, sorta.
So, AMD’s been ruling the handheld gaming world with those tiny, powerhouse chips they’ve made for gadgets like the Asus ROG Ally X and the Steam Deck OLED. But hey, Intel and Nvidia were like, “Hold our drinks.” I guess Qingchen DIY was curious about what might happen if Intel and Nvidia joined forces. Just a random thought, really.
According to some video on Bilibili, our friend over there took a Tongfang chassis — never heard of them? Turns out lots of Western brands use them. Who knew? Anyway, they crammed this tech into a handheld device. It’s like watching someone turn a pumpkin into a carriage — not exactly magic, but pretty close.
And within this handheld? The guts include the i9-14900HX CPU with its octo-P-cores and sweet-sixteen E-cores, along with the RTX 4090’s monstrous graphics muscle. It’s like fitting a race car engine into a scooter. Ever played on an 18-inch laptop like the MSI Titan 18 HX? It’s kind of that, but shrunken. Mind-boggling, right?
Seeing those massive processors in compact form might make you wonder about heat issues. But nope, they’ve got it covered. Running games like God of War? The temps barely hit 72°C, even while sucking down 175W. That’s plenty hot, but nothing this rig can’t handle.
And yes, more tech goodies: 64GB of DDR5 RAM and dual 2TB SSDs. Seriously, enough space to store a digital library. Probably need to keep it plugged in though, given the measly 50Wh battery. Thinking of taking this on a road trip? Maybe rethink that.
In the grand scheme, an Intel and Nvidia handheld is still a pipe dream. Does Nvidia have bigger plans on its own? Maybe some newer tech coming by 2026, loaded with Arm cores and a Blackwell GPU. AMD’s probably already working on their comeback. Who knows, really? This industry moves quicker than a rabbit on espresso.
Stay tuned to Tom’s Hardware for the latest. Or don’t. I mean, your call.
